Platform Engineer, Training Infrastructure

San Francisco, California Full-timeEngineering

About the role

Our platform ingests production traces, turns them into datasets, schedules training and evaluation jobs across GPU clusters, and serves the resulting models to customers. You will own the reliability, performance, and cost of that pipeline.

You should enjoy making things boring: idempotent jobs, observable systems, clean failure modes, and infrastructure that a two-person team can operate.

What you'll do

  • Own the data pipeline from ingestion to training-ready datasets, including privacy controls
  • Operate multi-node GPU training and evaluation workloads with strong observability
  • Build the model registry, deployment, and rollback path customers rely on
  • Drive down cost per experiment without slowing down researchers
  • Set engineering standards for testing, deployment, and on-call

Requirements

  • Experience running production infrastructure on a major cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Strong Python and at least one systems language (Go, Rust, or C++)
  • Hands-on with Kubernetes or an equivalent orchestration layer and with GPU workloads
  • Thoughtful about security and data isolation; our customers trust us with sensitive data

Nice to have

  • Experience with vLLM, SGLang, or similar inference stacks
  • Prior work at a small, fast-moving team

Compensation & benefits

  • Base salary: $180,000 to $280,000
  • Meaningful early-stage equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k)
  • Relocation support to San Francisco
  • Daily lunch in the office and a learning stipend

About Clad Labs

Clad Labs is an applied AI lab building systems to train, evaluate, and continuously improve production agents. We turn the data a company already generates, real requests, tool calls, and human corrections, into training signal, and we measure every change against held-out tasks before it ships.

We are a small team working in person in San Francisco. We care about doing careful work on hard problems, and about being honest with customers about what improved, what regressed, and what we do not know yet.

Clad Labs is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
